Cette cr\u00e9ation tisse des liens entre le pass\u00e9 et le pr\u00e9sent, entre la colonisation et ses s\u00e9quelles modernes. Le bateau, symbole central, incarne \u00e0 la fois les navires n\u00e9griers et les embarcations des clandestins, illustrant une continuit\u00e9 tragique dans la qu\u00eate de libert\u00e9 et de dignit\u00e9 humaine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019auteur Mahi Binebine trouve tr\u00e8s \u00e9mouvant de voir son tableau expos\u00e9 au Mus\u00e9e historique de Gor\u00e9e, car cette \u00eele symbolise le point de d\u00e9part sans retour de nombreux esclaves pendant la traite atlantique. Selon lui, le tableau repr\u00e9sente une Afrique en qu\u00eate d\u2019un eldorado illusoire, ce qui constitue une nouvelle forme d\u2019esclavage. \u00ab Dans le tableau, c\u2019est toute une repr\u00e9sentation de l\u2019Afrique qui veut partir, parce qu\u2019il y a un eldorado qu\u2019on leur a vendu. Et c\u2019est un nouvel esclavage \u00bb, estime l\u2019artiste. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La cr\u00e9ation de cette \u0153uvre est inspir\u00e9e par deux livres de Binebine : \u00ab Le sommeil de l\u2019esclave \u00bb et \u00ab Cannibale \u00bb, qui traitent de l\u2019\u00e9migration irr\u00e9guli\u00e8re. En plus d\u2019\u00eatre plasticien, Mahi Binebine est l\u2019auteur de douze romans et a remport\u00e9 le prix M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e de litt\u00e9rature en 1992. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Alla Manga, repr\u00e9sentant le directeur de l\u2019IFAN, a salu\u00e9 le don g\u00e9n\u00e9reux de l\u2019artiste, ajoutant que cette \u0153uvre entre dans la th\u00e9matique principale du mus\u00e9e historique de Gor\u00e9e. L\u2019\u0153uvre de Binebine vient ainsi enrichir la collection de ce mus\u00e9e.
